Membership Levels

There are four grades of membership based on an individual's experience in ministry. These are Member, Clergy, Scholar and Fellow.

Member (M.Inst.T.)

Member grade gives you a package of benefits and services. Also, you will be entitled to use the designation M.Inst.T. after your name for the duration of your membership. As member you may upgrade your membership in line with the criteria below.

Clergy. (C.Inst.T.)

Clergy grade gives you a package of benefits and services. Also, you will be entitled to use the designation C.Inst.T. after your name for the duration of your membership. Must pro- duce/provide proof of Theological training and overseeing a church or Christian organi- zation for not less than five years.

Scholar (S.Inst.T.)


Scholar grade gives you a package of benefits and services. Also, you will be entitled to use the designation S.Inst.T. after your name for the duration of your membership. Scholar members must be  a practicing Christian educator and are elected from member grade applicants based on their experience and contributions to the service of God.

Fellow (F.Inst.T.)

Fellow grade gives you a package of benefits and services. Also, you will be entitled to use the designation F.Inst.T. after your name forthe duration of your membership. Fellow members are elected from member grade applicants based on their experience and contributions to the service of God.




When you join the IoT you will pay a one-time Registration fee, together with the first year's membership fee prorated. Membership must be renewed annually on or before January 1. When joining the IoT a new applicant will pay the first year's subscription prorated together with the Registration fee, which is shown below.

The annual membership fee is normally tax-deductible. If you are entitled to the tax deduction, you will be able to find a section in your self-assessment form to claim it as a tax-deductible expense.

The Scholar and Fellow member status are an elected position determined by your application information. This is determined by your experience and contribution to the Kingdom. Details will be provided to you upon determination of your appropriate position.

Membership of the Institute of Theologians is open to those who are in agreement with our Statement of Faith, and are responsible for the strategic direction of an "Entity", being one of the following:

Organizations

• Para-church

• Evangelists

• Professional or 
other partnership

• Missionaries

• Not-for-profit Christian organization, 
charity or trust

Membership undertaking

When you apply for Membership you must also accept the following undertaking:

I hereby apply for membership of the Institute of Theologians and agree to be bound by its Statement of Faith and all rules and regulations made under it.

I undertake to conduct myself, both publicly and privately, in a professional manner and so as to uphold the Institute's reputation and standing and not to cause embarrassment or distress to other members of the Institute or its staff and not to represent publicly the views of the Institute or to claim its support, without the consent of the Board (or of an officer or employee of the Institute nominated by the Board for such purpose).
